The Cancun-area beer festival, explained

Yes, there's a craft beer festival on the Mexican Caribbean — and it might be the best-value beer event in North America.

Looking for a beer festival near Cancun? The Caribbean Beer Festival (Festival de Cerveza del Caribe) happens April 16-18, 2027 in Puerto Morelos — a fishing town 25 minutes south of Cancun Airport, right between Cancun and Playa del Carmen.

What you get

Tickets and prices (this is the part you won't believe)

Early Bird passes start at $200 MXN — around $12 USD. Even the 3-day VIP experience costs less than a single-day pass at most US beer festivals. Sales open November 1st, 2026, and prices rise in phases as the festival approaches, so earlier = cheaper. Payment works with international cards.

Getting there

Fly into Cancun International (CUN) — direct flights from most major US and Canadian cities. Puerto Morelos is a 25-minute ride south: ADO buses, colectivos, taxis or rental car. April is dry season: sunny, 27-31°C (80-88°F), and the reef at its clearest.

Make a long weekend of it

Puerto Morelos sits on the Mesoamerican Reef — snorkeling here is world-class — and the Ruta de los Cenotes (a highway lined with swimmable cenotes) starts ten minutes inland. Beer festival + reef + cenotes + tacos: that's the itinerary. More in our Puerto Morelos travel guide and why April is the best month for the Riviera Maya.

Is it gringo-friendly?

Completely. In 2026, over a third of the festival's web visitors came from the US, and English speakers had zero trouble. Bring pesos in cash for food stalls, sunscreen, and an empty schedule for the day after.
